Photography Slideshow of Steam Powered Coal Trains in Sandaoling, China to the Hauntingly Beautiful Sound of the Steam Locomotives that Pull Them

Images from my trip to China in the winter of 2018. I went to Sandaoling in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to document the last revenue steam powered railroad left in the world pulling coal out of the largest open pit mine in western China. The coal is transported from the mine up to a coal yard where it is unloaded out of side dump cars. The coal is then sorted and reloaded into larger gondolas and shipped across the country by diesel/electric trains. The audio was from a recording I did one night from the top of the old pit.
